Volksagen has an interesting past. The subsidary of the Volkswagen Group, the 4th largest car producer, behind Toyota, Ford, and General Motors (GM) was founded in 1937 for the purpose of making a "people's car" as ordered by Hitler himself, to prepare for war. The idea was to make a cheap, economically cheap to repair and maintain car that had better fuel mileage. During the war, the lone production plant was taken under control by first the Americans then the British. The original intent was to dismantle and salvage the factory as reparations, as it was severely damaged in Allied bombings. After plans kept changing, the plant was eventually used for military vehicles then production cars, and it's grown amazingly since then. Volkswagen is active in motorsports, particular truck racing. The Volkswagen Group also owns the famous company Audi.
