Typical layout of a FWD vehicle.

FWD (Front Wheel Drive)

FWD (Front Wheel Drive), also referred to as FF (Front engine, Front wheel drive) in the Gran Turismo Series, simply means that the car's engine disperses its torque to the front driveshaft only. This type of drivetrain is very common among production vehicles. Today, most Front Wheel Drive cars feature a transverse engine, instead of a longitudinal engine, which is present in many Rear Wheel Drive and Four Wheel Drive cars
