Founded in 1913, BMW has always been a leading competitor in car production. BMW also owns the companies MINI and Rolls Royce. BMW also has won many motorspot events and is still very active in all categories of motorsports. An interesting part od BMW is that their cars are named with a simple yet clever system, as shown here:

Symbol What it means
C (no longer used) Coupe
d Diesel engine
e eta ("economy" in English)
es eta Sport
g biogas
i Fuel-Injected
L Long wheelbase
M Motorsport (Highet performing car in particular class. Eg. M3 is the fastest in the 3 series.)
s Sport (usually means it includes a spoiler, aerodynamic body kit, better features performancewise, nicer rims, etc.)
t Hatchback
T Touring (station wagon)
x All wheel drive (AWD)
X features BMW's x-sport technology (Class)
Z 2 Seater roadster (Class)

Also, the three numbers is also a system. The first number is the class, and the other two are equal to the engine's displacement (in cc-cubic centimeters)\100.
